Homa

Homa is a ritual performed for appeasing a specific deity by invoking the God of fire (Agni). Homas are performed according to traditional scriptures, especially by fully learned and experienced Vedic scholars. Before starting the homa, ‘shankalpa’ (praying) for the specific relief/benefit of the desired individual is done. The ingredients required for homas differ according to the deity.

The main objective of all homas is the prosperity of the people by energizing and protecting the environment. According to ancient texts, any offer to Agni is an offer to the Sun, as fire is considered as a representation of the Sun's energy.

Ganapati Homa, Mrityunjaya Homa, Navagraha Homa, Santhana Gopala Homa, Ayushya Homa and Bhoo Varaha Homa are some of the prominent homas.
