Maharajganj District

The district of Maharajganj in Uttar Pradesh came into being on 2 October, 1989. It is bordered by the districts Gorakhpur District in the south, Kushinagar District in the east, Siddharthnagar District and Sant Kabir Nagar District in the west, and Nepal in the north. The population is 2.1 million, distributed over an area of 2,948 sq km. Maharajganj town is the district headquarters.
