National Highway 45A

National Highway 45A links Viluppuram with Nagapattinam in Tamil Nadu, via Pondicherry. This 190 km-long stretch spans across the districts of Viluppuram, Cuddalore and Nagapattinam and touches some major district headquarters towns and cities on its way.

The part of the proposed Chennai-Kanyakumari East Coast Road (ECR), which lies between Pondicherry and Nagapattinam, has been declared as National Highway 45A extension and now forms a part of the highway; initially National Highway 45A was only up to Pondicherry.

Cuddalore, Chidambaram and Karaikal are the major cities that lie along the National Highway 45A.

Porto Novo, Pichavaram, Poompuhar and Mayiladuthurai are the famous tourist places situated near the National Highway 45A.
