West Kameng District lies in the western part of
Arunachal Pradesh, covering an area of 7,422 sq km. It has a population of 74,595. West Kameng District derives its name from the river Kameng. Snowfall occurs from mid-November to February.
Bugun, Hrusso, Monpa, Sajolang and Sherdukpen are the major tribes. The important festivals are Lossar, Neichidow and Chindang.
