Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT) is located at Vellore in Tamil Nadu. It was established in 1984 by G. Viswanathan and was formerly called the Vellore Engineering College. In 1999 it was renamed Vellore Institute of Technology. The institute is affiliated to the All India Council of Technical Education’s (AICTE). It has excellent facilities for technical education and research. The VIT now manages five constituent colleges and interdisciplinary centers.
The institute has facilities such as health center, a well-stocked library, an energy center, shopping complex, canteen, post office, auditoriums, book store, a convenience shop, and a bank. Residential facility is arranged for both students and staffs. The placement and training cell organizes campus interviews.
