St John’s Church is an ancient church, located inside the Vellore Fort at Vellore, Tamil Nadu. The church dates back to the 16th century. It is said that the church was erected when Venkata II of the
Vijayanagar Empire had Jesuit priests in his court. There are many inscriptions preserved in the church that reveal the age of the holy shrine. The renovation work was done during 1846. Regular prayers are still held in this church.
The church can be approached from
Vellore Central Bus Station. The nearest railway station is Vellore Cantonment Railway Station and the nearest airport is Chennai International Airport (130 km.)
