Maneri is situated on the way to Gangotri at a distance of about 13 km from Uttarkashi. It has emerged as a place of tourist interest after the construction of a dam across the Bhagirathi River. The water is then fed into the turbines through an 8 km long tunnel at Tiloth in Uttarkashi District. The lake thus formed is an added attraction.
