Karicodu Bhagavathi Temple



Karicodu Bhagavathi Temple is a highly revered shrine of Goddess Bhagavathi at Thodupuzha in Idukki District. The festival which is peculiar to this temple is Kumba Bharani, a festival of the unity. On this occasion, people from far-off places offer money and grains to please the goddess.

The temple and the festival possess a long history dating back to centuries. Kumba Bharani is held on the auspicious days of Revathi, Aswathy and Bharani of the Kumbha month. Bhagavathi is believed to have been born on the day of Aswathy. Thalapoli is a major attraction during the festival.

Thodupuzha is a picturesque town on the banks of Thodupuzha River , 18 km south-east of Muvattupuzha. The nearest railhead is Kottayam Railway Station, 40 km away.
