Thodupuzhayar, originating from Idukki District, is one of the three important rivers which plays a great role in making the district a picturesque one with many high ranges and wooded valleys. It is on the banks of this river, that the scenic Thodupuzha town is situated. At Muvattupuzha in Ernakulam District, this river meets with the Kaliyar and Kothamangalam rivers.
