A crescent adorning the southern end of the City Palace complex, Hotel Shiv Niwas Palace has been awarded the 'Heritage Award for Excellence' in 1997-98 and the National Tourism Award for the best heritage hotel in 1998-99 and 2000-01 by the Department of Tourism, Government of India. It was originally Maharana Fateh Singhji's residence. Accommodation is provided in 36 well-decorated rooms, including 17 suites. All units have direct dial telephone, satellite television, mini-bar and tea/coffee making facilities.
Its multi cuisine restaurant, The Paantya, serves delectable Indian and Continental cuisines. A poolside restaurant is also attached. The bar, Paneera, offers an exquisite selection of Indian and foreign liquors. Its lawns are ideal for sit down banquets, buffets and wedding ceremonies. Guests can enjoy a quiet meal at the top terrace. Other facilities and services include swimming pool, conference facilities, squash courts, billiard room, TV room, board room for six, ayurvedic massage and beauty parlor, library, same day laundry and dry cleaning, travel and tour guides, travel desk, currency exchange, safety lockers and doctor on call.
Udaipur City Railway Station and Maharana Pratap Airport are the nearest railhead and airport respectively.
