Churchgate, a suburb and major business area in downtown Mumbai
, derives its name from the famous Churchgate Railway Station. The 'church' refers to the 18th century St Thomas Church, which is about half a kilometer from the station, and the gate was a 16th century gate, which was on the site where the Flora Fountain now stands.
