Ottapidaram

A place assoicated with India's freedom struggle, Ottapidaram is located in Tuticorin District and is 65 km from Tirunelveli and 25 km north-west of Tuticorin.

The place was once ruled by Jagaveerapandianar, a descendant of Panchapandiar (five famous rulers of the region). The village, formerly known as Azhagiapandiapuram, is the birthplace of V O Chidambaram Pillai (freedom fighter).

Tharakan's Mayura Thottam (peacock farm) and the house of Chidambaram converted into a memorial are the attractions here.
