Tikamgarh




Tikamgarh is the administrative headquarters of Tikamgarh District in Madhya Pradesh. It is around 50 km south-west of Chhatarpur.

Its earlier name was ‘Tehri’ as it consisted of three hamlets forming a triangle in shape (Tehri means triangular). In the pre-independence days, this town was the headquarters of Orchha District.

Places of tourist interest include Kundeshwar, Madkhera and Papora.

Airports at Gwalior and Khajuraho serve Tikamgarh. Nearest major railway station is at Jhansi.
