Shatabdi Express




Introduced in 1988, Shatabdi Express is one of the fastest and fully air-conditioned luxury trains in India. The Shatabdi trains run between main cities of the country at a speed of 140 km per hour. The Express is so named to commemorate the birth centenary of India’s first Prime Minister, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru. The first Shatabdi Express was run between New Delhi and Jhansi. Today, Shatabdi trains ply between cities such as Howrah, Chennai, Mysore, Amritsar, Ajmer, Bhopal, Jaipur, Ranchi and Ahmedabad.

Shatabdi trains are designed mainly for tourists and business people. It provides facilities for quick and comfortable travel. During the journey, mineral water, tea, coffee, light snacks and meals are served. Facility for making STD and ISD calls availble on board.
