The fort above the Gompa is ruined; nevertheless people climb up to this fort to get a bird's eye view of Leh. The Gompa was constructed by King Tashi Namgyal.

This Gompa is maintained by the monks of Sankar Gompa. It is open to the public daily from 07:00 to 09:00 hrs and 17:00 to 20:00 hrs.
