Gandikota Fort

Gandikota Fort, also known as the Gorge Fort, is situated about 10 km to the west of Jammalamadugu in Cuddapah District.

Remains of ancient structures are seen within the fort. A Masjid, a large granary and two ancient temples are housed within the fort. Two minarets lie near the Masjid. The granary has a vaulted roof and is now used as the traveler’s bungalow. Some other structures within the fort include another large granary, a magazine and an elegant pigeon tower with fretted windows. There is a palace with some plastered decorations. An old cannon and the Rayalacheruvu with its perennial springs are also worth seeing.
