Zanskar River (Tsarap River) originates at the meeting place of the Stod and the Lungnak rivers that flow along Zanskar Valley in Sarchu Plateau along the borders of Himachal Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir. It flows about 150 km and boasts one of the imposing gorges in Asia, through which the river runs northwards and finally joins the Indus River at Nimo. Rafting is possible in the Zanskar during summer. Only professionals are recommended to go for rafting. It is a venue for ice walk on winters. During winter, the water is frigid at 6-7 oC.
