Situated on the southern part of Kargil District in a hilly area, Yalong is a charming village in Jammu and Kashmir. It is set at an altitude of 12,168 ft above sea level.
Yalong is bounded by Silapi (6 km) in the west, Karsha (4 km) in the north, Thonde (7 km) in the east and Padum (5 km) in the south. Karsha Monastery is a spiritual center within a short distance. The Zanskar River flows nearby. Yalong is a comfortable base for trekkers and mountaineers.
Yalong can be approached from Tungring by road.
