Visayanathar Temple worships one of the manifestations of
Lord Shiva at Tiruvisayamangai, Thanjavur in Tamilnadu. One of the numerous Shiva Sthalas or centers of Shaivaite pilgrimage south of River Cauvery, it is 13 km from
Kumbakonam. Lord Shiva resides here as Visayanathar with his consort Goddess Mangainayagi. Hymns composed by several legendary saints like Sambandar, Appar and Sundarar attest to the shrine's ancestry and prominence.
