Vasudeva

Vasudeva, renowned as the father of Krishna, was the consort of Devaki. He was also the father of Balarama. Vasudeva and Devaki were imprisoned by the half-brother of Devaki to escape from a prognostication that one of their sons would kill him. Kamsa killed six of their sons and seventh, Balarama was transferred to the womb of another woman. The eighth son Krishna was also transferred to a nearby village where he was brought up by Nanda and Yasoda. Later Krishna killed his uncle, Kamsa. http://encyclopedia.thefreedictionary.com/vasudeva
