Vainu Bappu Observatory, located in the picturesque neighborhood of the village of Kavalur, is the main optical observatory of the Indian Institute of Astrophysics (IIA). The Observatory uses the Vainu Bappu Telescope, the largest telescope in Asia with a diameter of 2.3 m. You can visit the observatory on Saturdays and Sundays between 14.00 and 17.00 hrs.
