Vadakkedam Shiva Temple



Vadakkedam Shiva Temple is a highly revered shrine situated at Karakulam near Peroorkada in Thiruvananthapuram. The presiding deity of the temple is Lord Shiva. Lord Ganesh and Nagaraja are the other deities installed in the temple. Nandi, the divine bull is seen opposite to the sanctum sanctorum, facing the main deity, Lord Shiva.

The colourful gopuras and figures are a feast to the visitors' eyes. Shivratri is celebrated annually at the temple.

This holy shrine which adjoins the city area can be reached easily from Thiruvananthapuram Central Bus Station. This place lies along the Thiruvananthapuram–Shenkottai Road. Vadakkedam Shiva Temple is about 15 km from the Trivandrum International Airport, and 10 km from Thiruvananthapuram Central Railway Station.
