Uttarayani Mela is a local festival celebrated by the people of Kumaon in Uttaranchal. It is celebrated on the Makar Sankranti day at Bageshwar, Chitrashila (Ranibagh) and at Chaumu Temple in Pancheshwar. Various goods such as iron and copper pots, baskets, bamboo articles, mats, herbs and spices mattresses, carpets and blankets are sold in the fair held during the festival.
