Uravakonda

Uravakonda is a taluk headquarters in Anantapur District of Andhra Pradesh. It is a prominent religious center in the district and is around 60 km north of Anantapur.

The entire area of Uravakonda is dotted with temples and Siddheswara Temple, Malleswara Subbaraya Temple and Pundurangaswami Temple being the prominent among them. Apart from these temples, the eight day long chariot festival attracts thousands of devotees from in and around the state. This festival falls in the month of Phalgun and a large fair is also organized during this time.

A huge boulder in the shape of a hooded serpent perched on a hill is another interesting site here. Legend has it that whoever is bitten by a snake from this place will never recover.

Bangalore International Airport is the nearest major airport. Khadarpett Railway Station is the nearest railhead.
