University of Agricultural Sciences, located at Bangalore, offers undergraduate, postgraduate, PhD and non-degree courses and other trainings in the field of agriculture.
Started in 1963, the university has nine campuses and it carries out researches to develop new technologies to solve farmers’ problems in agricultural productions including animal husbandry and fisheries.
The library in the main campus carries a wide range of books and periodicals. The university has a botanical garden in its main campus, which is used to provide practical taxonomic knowledge to the students. Another garden called Sanjeevini Vana is exclusively used for the maintenance of medicinal and aromatic plants. An agricultural museum exhibiting major advancements in the different disciplines of agricultural sciences including agriculture, veterinary, fisheries and sericulture is located in its Hebbal campus. Besides, the university has several animal farms in its various campuses.
The two campuses, headquarters at Gandhi Krishi Vignana Kendra (popularly known as GKVK Campus) and Hebbal Campus, are located on the Bangalore-Hyderabad highway (National Highway 7).
