Thiru Devanaar Thogai Temple

The Thiru Devanaar Thogai Temple is situated in Thanjavur District, Tamil Nadu, on the southern bank of river Manni. This temple is dedicated to Lord Vishnu known by the name Deiva Naayagan. The idol is in a standing position facing west. Another idol of the deity known as Madhava Perumal, is taken out in procession during festivals. According to legends Lord Vishnu married Goddess Lakshmi in this place. Since the Devas (gods) came in a group to attend the marriage, this place was named Thiru Devanar Thogai (‘thogai’ means 'group' in Tamil). It is believed that by worshipping in this temple, childless couples will be blessed with a child and unmarried persons will get married. The specialty of the shrine is that its shadow of the shrine falls within itself and never outside. The Seerkazhi railway station is situated about 4 miles from here. The nearest bus stop is at Thiruvaali.
