Tungus in the west, Dalunang in the north, Khibar in the east and Pharona in the south are the neighboring places connecting Tasgam. The place with its rugged mountain beauty attracts many tourists. Drass Valley and Zoji La pass are some of the tourist attractions outside the town. Suru is an ideal base for treks to Suru Valley and Amarnath Cave.

Tasgam can be reached from Srinagar, which is at a distance of 129 km. Jammu Tawi Railway Station, at Jammu, is the closest rail destination to Tasgam.
