St Theresa’s Church

The most famous Christian Church in Malabar, St Theresa’s Church was constructed during the French rule in this region. This church still stands as a monument to the legacy of the French rule. The annual festival of this church starts on 5th October and lasts till 22nd. The main celebration falls on the 14th and 15th of October. People from far and wide come and take part in this festival.

According to the legend, a ship which was sailing through the Arabian Sea got stuck up when it reached the shores of Mahe. When the hip was freed the caption of the ship found a statue of St Theresa. It was brought to the shore he founded a church there.
