Shri Vakratunda Temple is a famous Ganesh temple located at Aawas, about 12 km from Alibaug. According to myth, king Abhijeet and his queen got a son after performing strong penance by chanting Vakratund mantra. It is believed that Lord Ganesh stayed here on the humble request from the couple. Another attraction is a mountain called Kanakeshwar located about 5 km from here.
