Shivodayam Temple



Shivodayam Temple is situated at Kani village, about 1 km from Vellayani, in Thiruvananthapuram District. The presiding deity is Lord Shiva. There are separate shrines for Lord Ganesh and Nagaraja.

This temple has historical importance as it is associated with Shri Narayana Guru, the renowned social reformer of Kerala. Shivodayam Temple is one of the few temples in Kerala, which is believed to have been consecrated by Sri Narayana Guru. To commemorate the consecration of the temple, a grand festival is celebrated here in April.

A small bridge named Madhupalam is located nearby. Other temples in the vicinity are Nemom Ganapathi Temple, Sree Krishna Swami Temple, Vellayani Devi Temple and Nemom Sree Mahadeva Temple.
