Shankarpur, lying 12 km east of Digha, is a wide tree-lined beach. This beach is a lesser known one and is excellent for a quiet holiday. The prominent attraction is the Shankarpur Fishing Harbour Project. Shankarpur beach is known for its red crab population.
The best season to visit is from July to March. Matsyagandha Rest House of West Bengal Fisheries Corporation offers standard accommodation.
Regular buses ply between Kolkata and Shankarpur. Tourist cabs and luxury cars can also be hired from Kolkata.
