Sarthebari is located in Barpeta District of Assam and lies on the banks of Brahmaputra. It is about 27 km from Barpeta and about 100 km north-west of Guwahati.
Sarthebari is famous for its brass and bell-metal works. Placed on the easternmost corner of the district, it is one of the important commercial centers in the entire north-east. The people here are expertise in making household utensils such as Sarais, Bota, Ban-Batis, Thals and glasses. The area is also famous for traditional handicrafts.
