Sardar Vallabhbhai National Institute of Technology is located about 8 km from Surat, on the Surat-Dumas Highway.
Established in 1961, this deemed university was one of the 17 Regional Engineering Colleges that were established as joint venture of the Government of India and the Government of Gujarat. Bachelor degree courses are offered in the disciplines of civil, mechanical and computer science and engineering, electronics, production and chemical. Post-graduate centers are in the fields of civil engineering, applied mechanics and mechanical engineering departments. The campus has a central library, central computer center, entrepreneurship development cell, continuing education centre and physical education section. It also has a training and placement section. Hostel facilities are available.
The campus is located in the Ichchhanath area, which is about 10 km from the Surat Railway Station.
