The Russian consulate in Chennai, Russian Center of Science and Culture, is a wing of the Russian Center for International Scientific and Cultural Cooperation under the Government of the Russian Federation. It stands for promoting bilateral relations and cultural co-operation between the Russian Federation and the Republic of India.
The center has a music club, ballet school, chess club, modern dance academy, Russian language institute and a library. The language school conducts correspondence courses in Russian language along with regular certificate and diploma courses. The library houses more than 20,000 books by Russian authors in both Russian and English. Periodical exhibitions and competitions are organized in drawing, painting, sculpture, photo, fashion designing and industrial designing. Besides, the cultural center arranges seminars and training courses on various topics relating to India and Russia.
