Rayagada, the seat of administration in the Rayagada District, is situated on the way from
Berhampur to
Koraput, in Orissa. Rayagada is 400 km southwest of Bhubaneswar.
Places of tourist interest include Hatipathar (3 km) and Niyamgiri Hills. The city is also an ideal base for excursions to Minajhola, Padampur (94 km) and Chatikona (40 km).
Rayagada is a major railhead on the Raipur-Vizianagaram rail line. Nearest airport is at Bhubaneswar. The town also boasts regular bus services to Berhampur, Koraput and Bhubaneswar.
