Payer

Situated at the foot of Karewa on the opposite side of a rivulet, Payer is a village about 6 km from Avantipur, Pulwama District. The place is famous for the ancient Payer temple. This temple is an ideal example of a well preserved medieval Kashmiri shrine. The ceiling of the Pandrethan temple is a copy of this on a larger scale.

Payer can be approached from Malangpura, about 3 km away. One can reach Payar from Avantipur by road. The nearest railway station is Jammu Tawi Railway Station and the airport is Srinagar Airport.
