Paun is a traditional cloth worn by the women in Mizoram. Known for its beauty and detailed embroidery, it is woven by the women themselves. Weaving being an important part of Mizoram’s culture, it is taught from an early age.
Paun, worn from the waist, reaches down to a length of 36 inches. Its width varies from 45 to 48 inches. Generally, traditional designs are used in its weaving. Some women however prefer the inclusion of modern patterns in the Paun.
