Pancha Sara Temple



Pancha Sara Kshetram (Temple) is situated 7 miles from Kumbakonam in the Thanjavur District of Tamil Nadu. The temple is dedicated to Lord Vishnu. The deity is known by the name Saranathan Perumal. The idol is in a standing posture, facing east. Along with the idols of Lord Saranathan there are also idols of his wives Sridevi, Bhoomidevi, Neela devi, Mahalakshmi and Sara Naayagi.

The Rajagopuram (the tall tower-gateway) of this temple is 120 feet tall. There is a shrine dedicated to Lord Hanuman, on the west end of the pushkarani (temple tank), and Lord Vinayaka on the Northeastern side. There are separate shrines dedicated to Lord Rajagopala Swamy, Lord Ram, Lord Narasimhar and Lord Manavala Maamunigal.
