Nameri National Park

Nameri National Park is about 35 km from Tezpur and lies at the foothills of eastern Himalayas.

This second tiger reserve of Assam is on the banks of Jia Bhoroli River in Sonitpur District. The park is home to some of the endangered species such as Assamese macaque, capped langur, wild dog, golden backed jackal, Bengal fox, civet cat, hog deer, barking deer, mouse deer, tiger, leopard, jungle cat, leopard cat, fishing cat, Indian grey mongoose, wild boar, Indian porcupine, Indian pangolin, fulvous fruit eating bat, flying squirrel, white bellied heron and white winged duck, racket tailed drongos, nuthatch and grey headed fishing eagle.

The best season is November to March.

The park is about 181 km from Guwahati. The nearest airport is Tezpur Airport and the nearest railway station is at Rangapara, about 60 km from Bhalukpong, which is 21 km from the park.
