Nalbari District




Nalbari District of Assam is bounded by Kamrup and Barpeta districts. It covers an area of 2,257 sq km with a population over a million.

The climate is sub-tropical with dry hot summer and cold winter. Annual precipitation is about 1,500 mm. Tributaries of the Brahmaputra, such as the Nona, Buradia, Pagaldia, Borolia and Tihu, flow through Nalbari. Paddy, wheat, mustard, linseed, lentil, pea, jute, coriander, vegetables, coconut and arecanut are the important agricultural products.

Nalbari is famous for temples, monuments, museums, churches, gardens, and other landmarks. The famous temples are Hari Mandir, Jain temple, Billeswar Temple, Shripur Dewalay Mandir, Basudeb Devalay, and Shiva Mandir. Ganga Pukhuri, Daulashal, Mahmara Pukhuri, Angradhowa Pukhuri, Gohain Kamal Ali and Sonkuriha are the other major tourist attractions.
