There are four thatched roofs under which a stone is worshipped as the symbol of Sati. According to legend, it is one of the Sati pithas where goddess Sati's throat had fallen, when Shiva was carrying her dead body.

Nalhati town is about 228 km from Kolkata, 75 km from Bolpur, 16 km from Rampurhat and 91 km from Shantiniketan.
