Nakchok is located in East Sikkim District and is around 34 km north-east of Gangtok. The town is near the Indo-China border and lies at an altitude of 13,451 ft.

Nakchok is served by Civil Enclave Bagdogra, at Bagdogra. Helicopter service is available between Gangtok and Bagdogra.
