Naganathar Temple



Naganathar Temple is located at Paataaleeswaram, 2.5 km north of Mannarkudi, in Thanjavur District. The temple has two artistically decorated prakarams. There are mandapams in the temple having the inscriptions of Chola and Pandya period. The deity of the temple is known as Sarpapureeswarar and the Sthala Vriksham (sacred tree) is Mango. The temple has many teerthams namely, Brahma Teertham, Dhenu Teertham, Rudra Teertham, Neeladwaja Teertham and Naaga Teertham. The main festival of the temple is the annual Brahmotsavam held in the month of Vaikasi (May-June). Others include Arudra Darisanam and Kartikai Deepam.
