Muppittu Njayar is an important event in the Palayur pilgrim center. This is celebrated on Sundays, after the tenth of every month. St Thomas, an apostle of Jesus Christ, performed the baptism of the early Christians at
Thalikulam. On Muppittu Njayar day newly born children are brought here for baptizing. After baptism at Thalikulam, there is a procession of the children, to the Palayur church followed by holy mass in the church.
