Marori Lacquering

Marori is a lacquering technique used for adorning artistic metal works. It is practiced in Gujarat.

Relief work of the patterns is made on the metal surface. Grooves are created around the patterns by chasing and punching. These grooves are filled with colored lacquer, which is fused into it. Excessive colors are rubbed of to give the final product. The engraved designs are highlighted by the surrounding colored lacquer.
