Madan Kamadeva



Madan Kamadeva, dubbed as the ‘Khajuraho of Kamrup’, is a beautiful temple complex consisting of 24 temples, situated 34 km from Guwahati, in Assam. It is situated on a small hill abundant in Sal and Teak forest.

This 10th-12th century Nagara style temples are noted for its intricately carved figures and sculptures made out of monolithic rock. Erotic images had been sculptured in the ornamentation. The main deities are Uma and Maheshwar. A six headed Bhairav, 4 armed Shiva, terrible looking demon, men-women are the other images represented in the temple.

The temple can be reached by bus from Guwahati.
