Machhiwara is a small, old town situated in Ludhiana District of Punjab, about 35 km from Ludhiana. The town is well connected with Ludhiana, Samrala and Rupnagar by road. This place has been sanctified by the presence of Guru Gobind Singh who had rested here, while fighting a guerrilla war against a massive Mughal force. Here the main attraction is Gurdwara Chaubara Sahib. Machhiwara also finds mention in the great epic Mahabharata. The nearest railway station is at Sahnewal, about 22 km.
