M V Tipu Sultan is an all-weather ship introduced in the year 1988. This cruise is run by SPORTS (Society for Promotion of Nature Tourism and Sports), the official tourist agency of Lakshadweep Islands. M V Tipu Sultan can accommodate up to 658 passengers at a time. It operates between Kochi and Lakshadweep Islands. The passage takes between 14 to 20 hrs. The ship provides different classes of accommodation, including AC deluxe class with two berth cabins, AC first class with four berth cabins and tourist class with AC seating.
