Kota Fort, overlooking river Chambal, is situated in Kota - the industrial capital of Rajasthan. Built in 1264, it is one of the largest forts in the state. The fort's rampart, with massive bastions, 6 double gates and 25 towers (burj), is one of the highest in Rajasthan. It comprises numerous palaces, Madho Singh Mahal, Raj Mahal, Bada Mahal, Chhatra Mahal and the ruined Jhala Haveli. The Madho Singh Trust Museum in the fort has an excellent collection of weapons, clothing and some of the best preserved murals in Rajasthan.
