Khri River

Khri is a major north-flowing river of Meghalaya. This river is in close proximity to the Umtrew River and the Umiam River. The water from the Khri River is used by the Meghalaya State Electricity Board’s existing power stations for power generation of the state. The Upper Khri is diverted to the Upper Umtrew basin, the proposed site of a gravity dam of 69 m high and 256 m length. Meanwhile, the Lower Khri is diverted to a 91 m high rock filled dam at Umling.
